Can you test multiple students with the Initial ELPAC at the same time? How long does it take to administer the Initial? Does the time vary by grade level?

Initial ELPAC, students are administered the test one-on-one

Group administration is provided for Listening, Reading and Writing at grades 2–12.

ELPAC is an untimed test. No specific time limits have been set for the administration of the ELPAC. Students will be more accurately assessed if they are allowed to do as much as they can in each domain, within a reasonable amount of time. While no time limits have been set for any section of the test, Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing sections in Kindergarten and grade 1: Each domain may be administered in estimated testing time of 5-10 minutes.

Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing sections in grade 2: Each section may be administered in 10-15 minutes. The Speaking Domain should take approximately 10-15 minutes per one-on-one administration to complete.

Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing sections in grades 3-5: Allow time between the domains for students to have a break. The Listening, Reading, and Writing sections are group administered. The Listening Domain should take 20-25 minutes to complete. The Speaking Domain is a one-on-one administration and should take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. The Listening Domain and Speaking-Summarize an Academic Presentation require the Test Examiner to administer the test to groups of students via audio streaming from ELPAC TOMS. The Reading and Writing Domains should take 15-20 minutes to complete per domain.

Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing sections in grades 6-12: Allow time between the domains for students. The Reading and Writing Domains each should take 15-20 minutes to complete.
